Ralph started coaching over 40 years ago with approximately half of that time in track. He has coached junior development, middle distance, and throws. He has coached in the club, high school, and college systems. Several of those gigs were as a head coach. Ralph has also been on four ASG teams as a coach (including one as head coach), and with Team Alberta at Tri Prov.
During the last decade, he has coached 2 legion medalists, 2 provincial age class record holders, 4 top 8 nationally ranked athletes, and countless provincial medalists in throws. He is certified as a club coach - throws.
When not coaching, Ralph officiates, announces at meets, camping, and enjoys the company of his spouse, their 2 dogs and his 3 adult children. His day job is working at The King’s University as their VP of Finance. Ralph currently coaches 2 club teams in throws and a university cross country team. When he has 5 minutes of spare time, he also occasionally directs community theatre and has been known to judge tasting competitions involving fermented grape juice.
