Our Mission
Edmonton Thunder Track & Field Club is a community-based not-for-profit athletics club that has been developing athletes since 1994.
We provide a positive, athlete-centred environment where athletes of all ages and abilities can belong, grow, and pursue their goals. We believe every athlete deserves to feel supported, challenged, and valued as they discover what they're capable of through sport.
Our programs are built around progressive, long-term athlete development, giving athletes opportunities to build strong foundations, develop event-specific skills, and pursue increasingly challenging goals as they grow. Athletes train across sprints, hurdles, mid-distance, distance, jumps, throws, and combined events, with coaching designed to meet each athlete where they are and support where they want to go.
But developing an athlete means more to us than improving times, distances, and results.
We want athletes to become confident, capable, and independent in their development. That means learning how to train and compete, setting meaningful goals, responding to challenges, and gradually taking ownership of their athletic journey. Our coaches are here not simply to direct athletes but to provide the knowledge, skills, support, and opportunities they need to continue growing both as athletes and as people.
At Thunder, we believe success is personal. We celebrate medals and championships, but we also celebrate the progress behind them: the personal bests, consistency, commitment, resilience, confidence, and small improvements that add up over time.
Our goal is for every athlete to leave each season better than they started and equipped to keep growing long after their time at Thunder.
